Indoor air contains a complex mixture of contaminants, including fine and ultrafine particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM0.1), biological aerosols such as bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and allergens (e.g., dust mites and pollen), as well as gaseous pollutants like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), and ozone. These pollutants originate from both indoor sources and outdoor infiltration, and can accumulate to concentrations that exceed outdoor levels.

In this 45-minute workshop, Larry will present an evidence-based overview of the latest research on indoor air quality (IAQ), with a focus on the mechanisms by which airborne contaminants impact respiratory, cardiovascular, and cognitive health. He will also explore practical, science-backed strategies for mitigating exposure, including source control, ventilation optimization, and advanced air purification technologies applicable to both residential and workplace environments.

 Larry knows firsthand the devastating effect poor air quality has on families and lives–in ways both seen and unseen. After losing a family member many years ago to complications from asthma, the connection between clean air and longevity, and making air healthier, became a personal mission for him.
