A Regenerative Future for Wild Chaga
After learning about wild Chaga’s curative powers from his Grandmother in the midst of a war with stage 4 pancreatic Cancer, a 15 year old Garrett Kopp found himself surrounded by this precious healing resource growing on white and yellow birch trees in the Adirondack Mountains. Ten years later, after shipping Chaga to over 20,000 online customers, and leasing 220,000 acres of land for Chaga harvesting, Kopp explains the trials and tribulations of his naturopathic experience as he attempts to build a regenerative forest farm to cultivate the most highly misunderstood fungus on Earth.
Garrett Kopp is a self described naturopath who started harvesting Chaga from birch trees and selling it at farmers with his Grandmother 10 years ago. Today, at age 25 years old, Kopp leases 220,000 acres of private forest land in the Adirondacks, but is desperately seeking a new land partner to better facilitate his mission to establish a permanent abundance of wild Chaga while simultaneously advocating for the protection of our birth right to harvest, and urging against the embrace of fake lab grown alternatives.
